Hi. This is the first post from Mondial du deux Roues Paris. This bi-annual show featured several key models for 2008, like the new Fireblade from Honda, GSXR750 from Suzuki, Yamaha R6, Tenere 660, ZX-10R from Kawasaki and their new baby Ninja 250R. BMW launched the R1200 HP2 Sport as well – an expensive treat at over 14 grand…rather have a Ducati 1098 myself for that sort of cash. The show had loads of small bikes, as the industry seeks to offer an alternative to the cheap Chinese machines which are eating into the lucrative EU markets. Kawasaki’s Ninja 250 looked very well made, as did the new DR125 Suzuki supermoto. Other nicely made 125s included the Derbi Mulcahen, Rieju Tangoo 125 and the Yamaha YZF125R – another `baby’ sportbike. It;s been a long time since the Japanese manufacturers have come up with 125s for learners that haven’t made most teens look away in embarrassment. The Honda CBR125 has been a top seller for years, despite being a bit of a slug, mainly because there’s been no real opposition. All that’s about to change and about time too. I’ll be doing regular updates, pics of bikes, clothing and stuff I’ve tested in my job as a bike journalist.
